The macadamia is a slow-growing tree native to the forests of Queensland in northeast Australia. Macadamia kernels are rich in oil that contains 22% palmitoleic acid (a fatty acid found in natural skin lipids). This explains its favorable skin lubricating and moisturizing properties and its good cutaneous compatibility.
